Fährt man den Highway # 1 von Carmel weiter gen Süden liegt auf Höhe Big Sur ein Zwischenstopp, den man nicht verpassen darf! Das Nepenthe Restaurant liegt direkt zwischen Highway und Küste, man muss nur die Augen etwas offen halten nach dem Schild und nicht daran vorbeifahren. Wir haben das Restaurant nicht ausprobiert, sondern uns mit paar Drinks in die Sonne gesetzt, die Füße hochgelegt und den fantastischen Blick auf die Küste genossen. Alles nicht gerade ein günstiger Spass, aber es lohnt sich! Anbei ein Auszug aus deren Selbstbeschreibung:
